Excipient innovation: Formulating the drugs of tomorrow

The concept of a dosage form has been around for a long time. 2,400 years ago, Sumerian doctors in Nippur, an ancient city located in modern day Iraq, detailed how to make medical treatments in recipes written on clay tablets.
In the millennia since, dosage forms have continued to develop with drugmakers like Merck KGaA, Roche and Pfizer – which have their origins in apothecaries and dye makers founded in the 19th century – using excipients to try and find ways of delivering APIs to patients more effectively.
Such efforts are accelerating as the drug industry move into the era of personalised medicine and complex drugs.
In this webinar, leading academics will give us a potted history of drug formulation and share some of the cutting edge developments in the field of excipients that will shape the pills, potions, powders and capsules of tomorrow.
